Bows from Seven Meadows Archery

Hand-made Traditional Horsebows

These bows are manufactured by hand in Hungary by bowyer István Tóth and  imported to this country exclusively by Kim Coleman at Seven Meadows Archery. (These are two very wonderful people who also happen to be amazing musicians. Check out their  band Hrétrét on the world music scene….)

I ( Falcon) chose these bows for our product line for two main reasons:

  • First, they are extremely well made, durable, beautiful and fairly priced.
  • Second, they are a pure joy to shoot! Over the last several years I have been teaching archery, every time I put one of these bows in someone’s hand, woman or man, a look of rapture comes over their face. Sometimes it is difficult to get the person to let go of the bow once they have finished shooting. Some have even accused me of enchanting the bows…. Honestly, they sell themselves. I am innocent of anything except helping put them out in the world.

Bows come in two models and a variety of color combinations--see our sampler page for an overview. We usually have a selection in stock; call for available color and weight choices. If we don’t have what you want in stock we can usually get it in a few weeks.

Mongol Bow:

The ancient Mongols developed this style with its distinctive bridge on which the string rests. The purpose of this design is to give the string a little extra “pop” when the string snaps against it. This gives this bow the advantage of higher arrow velocity yet has a bit more noise than the Magyar Hun. The Mongolian measures 54 ½” unstrung and 53 ½” strung with a 49” Dacron string. Just like the Magyar Hun, this bow has ash syhas, with fine wood or horn lamination at the tips. Weights available from 30# to 60# at a 28 “ draw. Very powerful fiberglass limbs, leather limb cover and stitching.

Wood laminate tips $295
Horn laminate tips $310
